Nova Music School Students Celebrate Knights Table Volunteers Through Music
Three Nova Music School students recently had the opportunity to take their music beyond the classroom and into the Brampton community.
On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Ethan, Veda, and Sodonie performed at the Knights Table Volunteer Appreciation Event in Brampton, helping celebrate the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting individuals and families throughout Peel Region.
For our students, it was more than a performance. It was an opportunity to use their musical talents to celebrate, encourage, and give back to their community.
What Is Knights Table?
Knights Table is a Brampton-based nonprofit organization that has served individuals and families experiencing hunger, poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness throughout Peel Region for more than 36 years.
Open 365 days a year, Knights Table provides meals, food-bank services, and community programs for vulnerable individuals, seniors, and families.
Today, the organization reports serving more than 400,000 meals, distributing over 3.5 million pounds of food, and receiving support from more than 4,200 volunteers.
Programs include First Bite Breakfast, Kids Breakfast Club, Seniors Café, Cecil's Kitchen, Our Pantry Food Bank, Good Neighbour programs, and mobile food support.

Celebrating the Volunteers
The Volunteer Appreciation Event was an opportunity to recognize the people who make so much of Knights Table's work possible.
Nova Music School was honoured to contribute to the celebration through music, with three of our students sharing special performances:
🎤 Ethan — My Way
Ethan performed the timeless classic My Way, sharing a confident performance with the volunteers and guests.
🎤 Veda — My Heart Will Go On
Veda performed My Heart Will Go On, bringing her voice to the celebration and creating a memorable moment for the audience.
🥁 Sodonie — Three Little Birds
Sodonie performed Three Little Birds on the steel pan, adding an uplifting and joyful sound to the event.
Three students. Three very different performances. One shared purpose: using music to say thank you.
Music Beyond the Classroom
At Nova Music School in Brampton, we believe music education is about more than learning notes, songs, and technique.
Opportunities like this allow students to experience what it means to use their talents in the real world.
Community performances help young musicians build confidence and performance experience while also showing them that music can have a meaningful purpose. It can encourage someone, bring people together, celebrate an achievement, or simply make someone's day brighter.
For Ethan, Veda, and Sodonie, this performance was also an opportunity to witness the impact of volunteerism firsthand.
They weren't performing to be the centre of attention.
They were using their talents to celebrate the people who were.
