REGULAR ATTENDANCE is critical to the success of lessons. Please plan to attend all lessons and arrive on time and prepared. It is mandatory that the student own the instrument they are learning to play. Students learning guitar, ukulele, or alto sax are required to bring their instrument to class, students learning drums should bring their own drumsticks to class, and a piano will be provided for piano students. The 1/2 hour class time is sufficient for learning new material, but in order to maintain steady progress learning an instrument at home-practice is required on a consistent basis. Students must have a daily practice routine that reviews techniques, songs, and concepts from lessons so that each class can provide new instruction for students to advance.
Note: Students/children can go in waves of enthusiasm and waves of disinterest in a musical instrument as they grow up. This is normal – it is parental encouragement and teaching the importance of perseverance that is crucial to helping students continue to make good progress. It is also really helpful to encourage their involvement in school orchestras, etc.
BOOKING TIME OFF FOR FAMILY HOLIDAYS/EVENTS. Please inform us at your earliest opportunity about annual vacations or have a special events so that those changes can be reflected on the booking platform and invoices. Classes are held continuously throughout year AND throughout the holidays. If a teacher takes vacation or the studio goes on break you will be informed in advance.
* Sometimes students and families wish to take ‘extended breaks’ throughout the summer holidays or other times of year. Please be advised that if you take a break more than 3 weeks we will not be able to guarantee the availability of that time slot when you return. We are unable to ‘hold’ spots for more than 3 weeks.
CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULE POLICY. To cancel or reschedule a lesson at no cost, you must provide at least 24 hours prior notice. You can log into your account on our Studio platform to cancel within the acceptable time limit and you will be issued a makeup credit for future use. If you do not show up for a lesson or cancel the class on the platform at least 24 hours prior, you will be charged for the missed lesson. This includes online or in-person classes missed for ANY reason (for example: forgetting, no show, last minute illness). To encourage attendance and the use of lessons, all unused lesson credits will expire and be forfeited ninety (90) days after purchase. There will be no refunds or cash redemption available for expired unused lesson credits.
To cancel your enrolment, and to terminate your lessons, you must provide written notice to management, which may be provided by email (novamusicschool@gmail.com), prior to the upcoming billing date of the subsequent month. Termination is effective on the date of notice. In the case of enrolment cancellation, all lesson tuition fees are non-refundable, and any unpaid fees are immediately due. All unused lessons for canceled enrolment accounts will expire and be forfeited thirty (30) days from the date of notice of cancellation. There will be no refunds or cash redemption available for expired unused lessons for canceled enrolment accounts.

Make up lessons may be scheduled at the discretion and availability of your teacher. Monthly tuition may be adjusted for vacations with a minimum of 2 weeks notice to the teacher.
If a teacher is absent, ill, or unable to teach, we reserve the right to supply a substitute teacher to conduct the class. If Nova cannot provide a substitute teacher and it is necessary to cancel/reschedule a lesson that is already paid, the lessons credit will be applied to your next unpaid lesson. The same policy applies to lessons canceled due to inclement weather.
We recommend talking to your teacher about Make-up classes as soon as a class has been canceled to ensure you receive the full value of your classes.

Lesson fees are due at the beginning of each month and reserve a weekly lesson time for that entire month. You can pay this fee any time before the 14th of the month.
Methods of Payment include Cash, Cheque, Credit, and E-transfer.
